Due to the ever growing need to maintain Scotland's historic environment, Project Management Scotland has found it beneficial to have a proficient and accurate knowledge of the issues involved, this means continuing to maintain accurate awareness of guidelines and legislation introduced by Historic Scotland, Building Trustees and other similar organisations. This is an on-going process with regular amendments and updates being made to these guidelines.

Project Management Scotland are pleased to be able to translate these guidelines and therefore indicate any significance to our clients on how they could affect their ideas and designs. Effects can be varied, different historic buildings are separated into categories, depending which category the building is designated can mean less freedom in the overall building design, resulting in more complex planning applications with listed building consent a requirement. Lottery funding and grant applications are proving to be a more popular method of financing historic building regeneration, entailing less risk for proposed projects.
